Dessert @ The Meat & Wine Co. Steakhouse

You won't believe your eyes. Nicer (than this photo) than it looks.

Yes, so I went back to The Meat & Wine Co. Steakhouse. We had the usual, the pork ribs and the steak. But this time, we made sure we ditch the entree and make room for dessert!

The Grand Finale
Meant for two (but shared among 4) - from left: Passionfruit Cheesecake, Raspberry Sorbet, Banana Tart, Vanilla Ice Cream, Chocolate Lava and Creme Brulee

Nobu @ Crowns, Melbourne

This is blog has been long ignored, I'm ashamed that it's been deprived of all the good food I've had.

I NEED to share with you my mind-blowing food experience I recently had at Nobu, Melbourne while celebrating the birthday of a loved one. This place is a little ouch ouch on the pocket but darn, its GOOD food! Make sure you book in advance, I made a booking about four days before and had to take on the only dining time option that they offered.

If you haven't heard of Nobu, the restaurant is named after Nobu Matsuhisa, the owner and executive chef, whom has grabbed numerous awards including 'One of the 11 Most Influential Chefs of the Decade' by Madrid Fusion in 2009. I haven't heard of Nobu if it wasn't located at Crowns, one of the most popular landmark in Melbourne. But I've later noticed Nobu cookery books in stores. Nobu serves delicate food that are of Japanese and Peruvian fusion. If you love Japanese food, wait till you try Nobu!

There were 5 of us that night and we each picked one dish to share (excluding desserts of course, they aren't to share!) as most of us weren't sure what to order. To be safe, most of the dishes we ordered were either labeled 'chef's recommendation'.

I shall wait no more to show you what we had for dinner that day (please forgive for the horrible quality photos, the ambience was too romantic for my camera to take, if you know what I mean, it was either to keep having camera flashes interrupting someone else's wonderful mean, or just bad-ass underexposed images)

Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna
Oh-so-lovely! To enjoy it, briefly dip the crisp rice cakes into the sauce and top it with some raw spicy tuna. I'm personally not a big fan of raw fish, but this is a HIT! a perfect appetiser to warm up those taste buds ;)

Prawn and Lobster with Spicy Lemon Sauce
I can't tell you enough how much I love the spicy lemon sauce! One of the best bits were the sliced mushrooms, which were like sponge soaking up the beautiful tangy sauce! Even if you're not a big vege fan, you'll say yes to these greens.

Black Cod with Miso
My 4 friends must have had a good laugh when I literally paused for a moment, and blurtted out 'oh my goodness, this is SO good!" after having tasted a small portion of the fish. The combination of the savoury prepared fish and the slightly sweet plum sauce is just a match made in heaven.

The rest of the dishes that aren't on photo are:

Steamed Whole Baby Barramundi with Black Bean Sauce
Well, I'm lying because I actually have a photo of this dish but it is too hideous to be posted up here. I have to say that this dish is good but is mediocre when compared to other dishes. I reckon that this dish tasted more Chinese partly due to the black sauce.

Tenderloin Toban Yaki
Oh yum! tenderloin tender as! the meat was pink in the middle and just had this right flavour that made me went WOW! I'm serious.

If you want my verdict, make sure you go for the Black Cod with Miso and the Prawn and Lobster with Spicy Lemon sauce. Either that, all are equally great but just avoid the Barramundi.

Of course, you can't forget the desserts. This time everyone ordered their own and refuse to share. I had this..

Warm Rice Pudding with Kami Nabe, Azuki Bean Ice Cream and Infused Seasonal Fruit
Served with a piece of crispy rice cake, meant to be broken up and eaten with the warm rice pudding. Personally, I didn't really like this. But 2/5 of the table ordered this dessert and loved it to bits! However, they commented that this dessert was once served with a lighted candle to keep the rice pudding warm.

Ice Cream filled Mochi
looks extremely adorable but too bad it wasn't mine, so I didn't manage to taste it.

Chocolate Bento Box with Hot Chocolate Fondant, Green Tea Ice Cream and a Goma Disc
ohhh.. looks devine, practically two of my most favourite dessert in one. but too bad they weren't mine either :(
