Face to Face noodle house @ SS15

I've been patronizing Face to Face ( or 'mian dui mian' in mandarin) lately and I must say that it's one of those shops where you can sit comfortably, chit chat and enjoy simple yummy hawker goodies. Their house specialty would be Pan Mee (as pictured below) followed by something I found rare, Sarawak noodles (or Kam Pua mee as I mentioned in my previous post).

Their house specialty, Pan Mee Soup appears simple but appetizing. The dish can be a little too plain after you have it too frequent like me, then you'll have to resort to the variety of sauces they provide, i.e. chilli sauce. Overall, I wouldn't say that their Pan Mee is something extraordinary, but it's very acceptable, can't go very wrong. Hold on, i said too soon. The pan mee can only go wrong if you order your noodles to be 'pinched'. They don't actually pinch (or 'mit' in chinese) your noodles, they still have the noodle dough rolled flat and sliced into squares, which totally is the opposite of 'pinching'. The traditional 'pinched' noodles comes in all sorts of irregular sizes and inconsistent thickness, those are what makes 'pinched' pan mee Real! The whole idea of ordering 'pinched' pan mee is so some of us can pick those noodle pieces up with more ease, and not to mention, fun =) So, if you're heading to Face to Face, just avoid the 'pinched' noodles then I can assure you're safe.
I once had another Pan Mee at some hawker place where they put in Choy Sum, CHOY SUM!! now that's Pan Mee Really Gone WRONG.

their Sarawak Noodles were very nice during my first few visits. It had a very similar flavour to the ones I ate in Sibu but the only thing lacking was the texture of the noodles. It was then the closest thing to Kam Pua mee that I could find. Lately, this noodle have been lacking in flavour and taste somewhat like mamee monster with pepper. This could probably be due to my too-frequent visits in a short period of time. The meat ball in the noodles is just out of place, it's too sweet and not necessary as they already serve char siew.

I was quite surprised when I ordered Lo Han Guo during my first visit. I didn't expect them to serve the drink in a bowl, topped with shaved ice. It was however, a delightful surprise. It's like eating dessert. The amount of shaved ice was always not enough as they melt too fast in the warm drink, leaving it nor hot nor cold. We often ask for extra ice so it becomes a blended ice drink, nice =) Here comes the negative part, they try to add 'value' to the drink by putting in things like agar agar pieces and large sago, which in my opinion ruins the drink (except for the shredded cincau). It then became a habit for us to just order them without the extra 'jellies'. They're aren't stingy with their longan pieces so it's really yummy, being able to chew on something while you sip sip.
